GUM Cinema Hall and the TheatreHD project present the premiere of Dmitry Chernyakov's production "Tristan und Isolde". The head of the music programming department of the Kultura TV channel, PhD in art history Katerina Novikova will tell about the non-trivial interpretation of Richard Wagner's masterpiece.

A monitor on the wall, a luxurious salon, twisted wooden panels and cream upholstery – this is the superyacht ship that carries Isolde to King Mark in Dmitry Chernyakov’s production. The director is focused on the very “close-up” that Wagner himself insisted on. This is exactly how this most complex of operas can and should be staged – with close, even piercing attention to the soul and feelings of each character. Closed interiors and looped sets create a magnifying glass for the main thing – a relevant look at the timeless story of “love in death”. Rich colors and a sultry atmosphere that permeate Wagner’s score – all this found its expression in the “traditionally original” and unconventional idea of the director.
Katerina Novikova, head of the music department of the Russia-Culture TV channel, will present to the audience the opera.
